Simplified things are usually not globally inferior in every dimension. I remember around year 2000 I looked for software to make box/arrow (straight or curved) diagrams with labels, basic effects. Some no-name commercial package I came across was the easiest to pick up & do the job. It didn’t cost much because it was designed for individual use. Imagine software for a Lamborghini dealer that is designed to show customers the look of them or models with cars in settings that appeal + their residence/neighborhood. Great gimmick, simple interface. A customization of something else. It’s worth a high price per unit.
