Side point: scientific style “experiment” can be powerful in automation too. Good case here is that optically some locations are much more likely than others to be emitters (I see little holes!). But the reality of that is underdetermined from passive observation data. If the sensors are slighly mobile then they can be repositioned as part of hypothesis testing experiments on source location. That should also be considered in the detection and analysis paradigms.
