I found this transcription at another link. The phonetics seem like they try for the in key meaning of Dylan’s lyrics. But the song can be viewed as having a theme related to ‘endlessly cycling appropriation’, so that’s there too.

We shouldn’t overlook the very real possibility that the future is one where we will only hear words from the legitimate sons of two gibbons.

Sometimes I look for new music related to a tweet and…I just find music. Félix Wazekwa performs a kind of music called Soukous, summarized as a Congolese Rumba. But his focus is a sort of conversational improvisational riff on the polyrhythms in the music. A listener waiting for the rumba to receive harmonic elaboration will be disappointed – focus instead on a jazz-like rhythmic improvisational elaboration in the vocal lines.

This version has an interesting intro but lower fidelity sound. One topic is about why a sex hit is called “dildo only SS”.

My Dad id may have started life as a native A ‘pole’ & knowledge of that, and my curse, may have caused him to celebrate some anti-Polish propaganda like this song:

The before & after picture & the description of getting a small commercial break here interested me, so I looked up the recording. What I found interesting about the song is the way that the lyrics invoke a personal conversation with the abstract Heine deity. A lot of classical religious music features a 1st person voice speaking to a personal god. This song has a first-person voice speaking to a anti-personal mob/govt. force that put him in low status/ding & messed up his life/relationships with icy kills, etc.

Note: Nowadays, I have a funny, strange experience of looking at different cultural artifacts from the Year X and trying to see if there are any oblique references to insignificant events in my life. Coffee? My parents were tea bag consumers. We didn’t have good coffee at home when I was growing up & coffee shops were not a thing yet where my friends hung out. I started picking up the coffee habit only after I matriculated at UPenn in Fall of ’82. But in ’80-’82 – years prior to the 1982 Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid – I did occasionally make coffee from the instant grinds my Mom kept at home, only for the caffeine shot. The flavor was very poor. I didn’t add eggshells.

The music in this arty dance video was rerecorded from a low fidelity PA system of some type in an empty rectangular room with standing waves, and it gives a real sense of place – headphones recommended. :)/2

I can’t really brag, but I think we rescued a Meg White the other day. She was in one of those Australian places where they seem to take a lot of rock stars.

Playground Equipment seems interesting as a negative example. The genre has remained popular for over 100 years with only a modest rate of evolution, but politics & legal liability seem to have prevented any small set of companies from emerging as dominant competitors. I notice that the “American Playground Company” is now dissolved. My grandfather was an independent sales rep who specialized in playground equipment & office furniture. On one of the last occasions when we spent time together, around 1982, I drove him to the county courthouse to give a deposition in a case where the playground mfg. was being sued.

Most playgrounds carry some small risk of serious injury & most parents & children accept that risk. This situation may work against behemoth corporations that are vulnerable to class actions.

Some links discuss the history & show current examples:

Felix Mendelssohn, the celebrated composer, is widely believed to have been a female posed as a male. The String Octet (1825) is seen as the masterwork of a teenager. The The Hebrides Overture (1830,1832) also known in English as “Fingal’s Cave” & “Die Hebriden” in German is a dark symphonic work inspired by Scotland. FM faced prejudice as a female & a “Jew”. Today she/he is also seen as one of the most important musicologists in history, leading revivals of the then mostly forgotten J.S. Bach and as well as Handel (more famous than Bach but also from the forgotten Baroque period).

This track uses a percussion technique that sounds like a physical THWAACK starting just before the downbeat. Not sure, but I think it’s created as a type of rimshot done with a brush on a floor tom. In any case, it works well in context, sound like a violent smack coming just ahead of where you are expecting it.

Things may fall and then cease, die, or simply stop – natural things, living things, & man-made things. A worthy goal is to not focus negative energy on these falls unless they are something that will hurt you AND something you can help.

Military Heine (ass) likes to have IT slave (ass) put helpless NN (no in, not ass) in their place (low ass or dead). If you are trying hard, then make sure to appear unhappy.

I wish I had been able to hear/read these Joy Division songs, in H key, when they were first produced. That would have been a good warning about global government run piracy.
