This developer has done some things like Internet chat servers among other products. We have recruited other people who worked on other programs & there were some popular open source programs like RocketChat where I wasn’t able to identify any good fit for us, but the system is on github. The point I wanted to make is that when particular servers or particular formats can be arbitrarily blocked in ways that we don’t always understand, messaging systems can be adapted to offer a large set of routes to try – if one does base64 chunks of data, any payload can potentially be sent over text messaging. That might be something to look into, if only to diagnose problems crossing over semi-hostile networks and security firewalls. -
