This guy seems to have been a good EE engineer who got replaced after a long fight. I had trouble finding links to his previous ID, but this seems to be only him.

I am thinking like this: Robot Tech could have a much wider reach if it was possible to modularize joint controllers that can be fitted with variously parameterized appendage parts on either side of the joint. The theory of parameterizing & controlling these assemblies needs to be enhanced, but the payoff in generality & rapid deployment could be great. Costs of embedded silicon and sensors are now low, so it’s mostly a theory/engineering/practice issue that Good Team is well-positioned to address, starting with simulation+theory.

Not a rigid-pivot arm – it could be a ball joint with a set of “tendons” – think of it as a black box motor cortex – I hook you up & you run of set of movement tests to learn your sensorium/actuator space & how to control it. Of course previous learning can be reloaded or used as a started point to account for material wear/stretching over time. The big problem is that your sensorium needs to include info from the rest of your assembly to understand the loads/inertia/etc. & how that is affecting everything. How can we generalize that in a way that allows for modularity & good control performance?? Intuitively, it seems that the next joint over should be able to give me some kind of low dimensional summary of the force kinematic state at that end & what is happening next.

I am not sure about the most important explanations for this graph – knowing that coronavirus is a military & electronics led conspiracy doesn’t tell me which factors are most important for pressing new assaults in the U.S. this month vs. Europe. Generally, lots of new cases happen in areas where the army goes in with the view that there are many non-gov outsiders there who they want to decimate. Are there more current areas like that in the U.S. than in Europe? Perhaps – I view that as 1 theory. On the other hand, the US DOD and the NATO leaders in Europe may have divergent views about weather pressing more attacks at this time will increase/decrease their long term political/economic support & supremacy over future rivals. That’s another theory I would consider.

I am not to sure of this read/interpretation – but I believe she is saying that she has the file from a Penn Grad who was briefly close to a couple of my housemates in ’86-87 and she sees from the file that there were some Intel ops around me well aware that I was still me, after my tags had supposedly changed then. And it seems that girl was replaced for the connection/info. If that read is true, some might be interested in the story & she may have a pointer to that person.

Convolutional Wasserstein Distances: Efficient Optimal Transportation on Geometric Domains
Justin Solomon, Fernando de Goes, Gabriel Peyre, Marco Cuturi, Adrian Butscher, Andy Nguyen, Tao Du, Leonidas Guibas

    Abstract:

This paper introduces a new class of algorithms for optimization problems involving optimal transportation over geometric domains. Our main contribution is to show that optimal transportation can be made tractable over large domains used in graphics, such as images and triangle meshes, improving performance by orders of magnitude compared to previous work. To this end, we approximate optimal transportation distances using entropic regularization. The resulting objective contains a geodesic distance-based kernel that can be approximated with the heat kernel. This approach leads to simple iterative numerical schemes with linear convergence, in which each iteration only requires Gaussian convolution or the solution of a sparse, pre-factored linear system. We demonstrate the versatility and efficiency of our method on tasks including reflectance interpolation, color transfer, and geometry processing.
