From the perspective of current-gen tech, design would be simplified by running power through an initial battery/UPS stage. The evolution of the system didn’t follow that route (and the desktop monitor is off the box), but it might be worth considering. The system becomes more energy-efficient if the power supply is less focused on meeting peak demand. Connections between board & power supply could conceivably become looser & more bourgeoise, emphasizing ease of power supply replacement in a long lifecycle, or using an offboard ups module.
