joshA pleasing narrator voice is an important component of many educational videos. High-quality text to speech translation with various voices, authentic & enhanced, was project I suggested for GT some long time back & I believe work continues on that. So please look for that & use it.

joshSome of the Ken Burns narrations might be interesting to study. They are long, slow, conveying a lot of factual prose text in an easy-to-digest way, & my intuition is that the dramatic emphasis usually was set to match the magnitude/impact of a historical change event. Good for analyzing?

joshLooking at “education” sites that recommend some videos for classroom supplements, the thought that jumps out at me is this: the reality of the education client is far removed from the purely idealistic model of a public servant focused on achieving educational attainment for pupils. Marketing will be more effective if it recognizes multiple categories of attitude & matches the pitch to the decision-maker and also helps them to get a sense of the different pitches that are available. Examples of different categories:
a) covering curriculum
b) something which isn’t part of the curriculum
c) an entertaining treat for an off-hour (hope you see us as the good guys)
d) social direction – these are the things you should understand in order to be counted as behaving
e) superiority – kids lack sophistication; learned adults are in a more advanced category; the tone of this video will help to clarify the gulf.
f) learners need to be more motivated – hopefully, something here will draw a spark across your phlegmatic countenance.Positive testimonials about how videos helped other instructors could be a big plus.
