JoshIt was messy, but I did succeed in mostly mastering the YouTube embedded API in a way I can use. I’m not setting the origin field at the moment because of my “site” – i.e. my home machine behind a firewall without an IP – isn’t able to authenticate, but I think when I do that online most of the security warnings will go away. I didn’t do anything with YouTube playlists, but playlists are a) a lower priority at the moment, and b) something where I want to do my own in a different way rather than use YouTube method.
I will go back and try embed.ly player at some point to see if I can get it working with non-YouTube and non-Vimeo, but I don’t need it for YouTube or Vimeo, and probably not for JWPlayer sites. Other places like Bloomberg.
To do…handle User initiated events and set up timers so that I can play Vimeo for a specific duration of a short clip (Vimeo API doesn’t support that itself).
Main next thing with the video is to figure out page widgets/style with texts and make a custom post type/writer
