There was a couple I knew at MIT – he was a cool German guy in my program & she was a Wellesley grad from Texas who was interested in acting & working for an accounting firm. They were both pretty cool, but I saw a lot more of him. Of course, I understood with my modern hindsight, they got dinged & it went a lot worse for him (reminds me to look & see if he published anything quickly). She turned up last year & jumped to GT. She was in a different id, but I recognized her face & believed her references were real. Some 6 months after that, I happened across a Facebook post from a Texas id who I could tell had inherited some version of Amy’s face/ID. She looked/sounded cool so, we picked her up too.

Mr. Luh Rob I don’t know. But I interpreted his ideas in the context of the story above. The thematic idea is that “I worry about safety” & “I like cool people” are attitudes, but what we believe about safety & considerate behavior is conditioned by the very different & usually inaccurate stories we heard or didn’t here about Heine and other things. In the future, hopefully “men’s ave” & “women’s ave” will be more in tune.

I also prize this music. Musicologists tell us that J.S. Bach is a member of a small minority of “classical” composers who was not internationally famous or celebrated in his lifetime. He was a prolific father & worker. One of his composer sons saved many of his manuscripts & destroyed others, lost forever. Felix Mendelssohn, who did most of his famous composing as a F in drag, led a revival of Bach to fame starting around 1830.
