Another point of profile relevance – my father had taught me to play chess, casually – neither of us was actually good at chess – and we had a few introductory chess books around the house. Relevance? Liz Larsen was publicly known as the “first wife” of GM Jorge Bent Larsen, a well-known top chess pro – he was ranked #3 in the World during the early ’70s, right below Fischer & Spassky. He was not Anna’s actual father – her father was a spook, probably sent on a mission to move Liz out of the public eye – but that is where Anna & Liz acquired the surname Larsen. So my youthful dilettante’s knowledge of chess was considered a positive, and, many years later, I first began to “converse” with Anna, under pretend guises, on the website http://www.chessgames.com

I was just looking at samples from digitized anthologies of writing on Amazon and the first sample I looked at from late 18thC America had LCs. The idea that Sarah Jane Clarke Lippincott might have started them was cool, but apparently not true. I didn’t get too much sense of the social or economic context from the passage I read except that it as a hetero woman mistress of some sort, and her fantasy sex personality was forward rather than demure/passive.
