    The current GT context creates large numbers of partial trainees. Compared to trainee/apprenctice/junior hire situations that are familiar from industry, the GT situation has

    a) Greater numbers of newbees
    b) More talented newbees in many contexts
    c) More examples of people like career jumpers that have a lot of skill related to one part of a job/task set but little or no familiarity with some other essential part
    d) More of a patriotic front – shouldn’t be thoughts about dues paying for its own sake

    This argues for more investment of resources in targeted training materials (videos, manuals, etc) and responsive, teaching management

    In addition to still relevant trades = plumbing/carpentry etc – assuming there is remote supervisor available on most job situations & some new contemporary issues.

    Point is compressed timescale of relevant training for able-bodied but only avg. HS ed in outfield.
